About Performance Sailing Europe
Performance Sailing Europe is a family based business operating from Portland marina (2012 sailing events venue), Dorset. PSE offers a wide veriety of easy access, low cost opportunities to try and encourage many new people into Sailing, as well as a full range of professional RYA an race coaching courses. Most courses are run from our 33ft cruiser racer Aragorn, although on occasion other yachts may be used for relief of larger events.
All courses are currently under the direction of Principal Instructor Oliver Holding. Oliver has been teaching for over 7 years in many aspects and area’s including the west coast of Holland and the Caribbean. Oliver is very experienced in both inshore and offshore yacht racing, With a background in commercial sail making, rigging and yacht building, Oliver can bring to you a unique blend of knowledge applicable to all sailors and situations.
Weymouth and Portland offer some of the most interesting, picturesque and challenging sailing conditions in the South Coast of the UK. With easy access at all states of tide to local areas, such as Lulworth Cove and Worbarrow Bay, you can expect to experience many famous locations along the Dorset coast from the helm of one of our yachts. On the more advanced courses you can look forward to sailing to the beautiful French peninsula of Cherbourg and the Aldeny Islands.
Built in 2009, not only is Portland Marina a world class venue and coveted sailing destination, but also is now the key sailing location for many world class sailing regattas, races and cruises. As you would expect from an area with such booming development, services in Weymouth are excellent, with wide range of accommodation and varied selection of restaurants rivaling the most exclusive British holiday destinations. There is also a bustling shopping centre and plenty of cafes and pubs.
