You can book any of our courses by downloading and completing our booking form

On booking a course with PSE you will receive an information pack via post, and are required to complete and return the medical forms with a deposit. On arrival at the Sailing School, you will enjoy refreshments and a brief about what to expect and what is expected of you over the course. From then on, for all practical courses, accommodation is provided onboard the yachts, food is bought by the students at the beginning of the course although you will also have a chance to go out for meals when ashore.

PSE Courses:

Racing Experience:

(Visit the Performance Sailing Racing page). A competitive sail around the 2012 sailing grounds. Here you will have the opportunity to experience pushing a yacht to its limits, aimed at beginners and the more experienced alike ( min duration on the water 1.5hrs )

Race Coaching and Crew Management: 

(Visit the Performance Sailing Racing page). Fully flexible, tailor-made courses with tuition in sail trim and handling, helmsman’s coaching, spinnaker handling, material handling, yacht and crew management, race strategy.

Mile-building:

A course comprised of tailor made passages running along the South Coast from Lyme Regis to Dover, and further afield to the French, Belgium and Dutch coast as far as Scheveningen.

Yacht master Exam Preparation:

You will gain the training and coaching necessary to competently and confidently enter your RYA Yacht master exam.

2hr or 4hr Taster Sail:

either morning or afternoon a cost effective opportunity for complete beginners to experience crewing onboard a modern sailing yacht

RYA Courses Offered:

RYA Coastal Skipper (Tidal) – This course aims to teach the skills and techniques required to skipper a cruising yacht safely in Coastal and Offshore passages by day and night. Minimum age 17.

RYA Day Skipper (Tidal) – On this course you will be taught pilotage, navigational techniques, seamanship and boat handling to the standard required to skipper a small cruising yacht safely by day in familiar tidal waters. Minimum age 16.

RYA Competent Crew – A course designed as an introduction for beginners to cruising, including personal safety onboard, seamanship and helmsmanship to the level required to be a useful crew member onboard a cruising yacht. No minimum age.

RYA Start Yachting – This course provides a short introduction to sail cruising for novices. By the end of this short course, you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, rope work and be aware of boat safety. Holders of a Start Yachting certificate can gain RYA Competent Crew by completing a further 3 days or 2 weekends of an RYA Competent Crew course. There is no minimum age.

All competent crew, day skipper, coastal and yacht master courses must be run over a minimum of 5 days, these can be run consecutively or over two weekends, one 2 day and one 3 day.
